| Amaretto, a patisserie in Heliopolis |
|
Out of almost insignificant scraps of pastry and the diversity of sweet ingredients, new tastes and colorful decorations and juicy cakes are created by Amaretto, a patisserie in Heliopolis that came to us with various new flavors and ideas that define quality and creativity for cakes and pastry.
Howeida Gadallah, the founder of Amaretto, began by making delicious pastry for friends and family, who encouraged her to start her own pastry business. She took the “Wilton: how to decorate cakes” course in Dubai in order to make unique pastry. She uses very special baking techniques and is convinced that baking with love is a major ingredient.
Clients place their orders a week before the occasion in order to receive their pastry fresh and on time. Most of the cakes are from pure Swiss chocolate and cream. The ingredients are imported from Europe, Germany and Dubai, “people eat the cakes and try to guess the new ingredients they are offered for the first time as some ingredients are totally new for the Egyptian clientele”, she tells us “Caramel with fresh cream makes our cakes one of a kind in Egypt”. The ingredients depend on the occasion, for example cakes for kids birthdays contain fondant animal characters whereas nuts are usually found in cakes for adults. The decoration of cakes for weddings and special occasions depend on the dress of the bride and the colors of the flowers. Creative decoration and presentation is the key motto for Amaretto. In Ramadan, her oriental sweets are totally unique as they make Konafa with fresh cream in thin rolls and cones of Basbousa, Konafa and Baqlawa all mixed in one.
Howeida develops her creativity by updating her skills with Wilton books as well as surfing the Internet and tasting different dishes from every country she visits, “travelling a lot makes me taste and store ideas and know what could I apply and what won’t appeal to people”. |
